Solutions for road dust control
For the best control of road dust, we apply topical solutions to the surface of the subject area evenly with our pressurized spray equipment, distributor trucks, spray trailers, or hand sprayers and allow 24 hours for material to set before resuming traffic. For especially dry sites we often recommend a pre-treatment with water to ensure there is moisture present to bond with the dust control agent.
We often use calcium chloride (CaCl2), a hygroscopic salt that draws moisture from the air to form a solution in road gravel that keeps road surfaces constantly damp, even in hot, dry conditions. The moisture helps to bind particles together to create a hard and compact road surface. Because it penetrates several inches into the road base, calcium chloride also contributes to overall road surface stability.
